About

A licensed physical therapist (MPT) since 1992 and Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) since 1990, Steve Cuddy has helped thousands of patients– many of them dedicated athletes– quickly return to their active lives.  In fitness-crazed Austin, Steve has successfully treated elite cyclists, triathletes, runners, climbers, Olympic swimmers, and college-level athletes in all sports as well as professional cyclists, baseball, basketball, soccer, football players, golfers, and BMXers.  He has also served as the orthotics consultant for the University of Texas men’s and women’s basketball teams and local PGA, cycling, and triathlon professionals.

Steve draws upon an array of techniques to customize a treatment and recovery plan for each patient.  He was the first physical therapist in Texas to be certified by the Postural Restoration Institute (PRI).  Using the PRI method, the therapist focuses on your body’s patterns of misalignment and movement dysfunction.

“The PRI approach allows the therapist to see all of the factors that contribute to your posture and movement patterns,” Steve says.  “It gives us a unique appreciation of the mechanical, neurological, visual, and even dental influences on the body.  Since I started using PRI in my practice in 2004, the results have been superior to any techniques I’ve seen.”

Steve compliments these PRI concepts with manual therapy techniques that integrate Australian, Norwegian, osteopathic, and deep tissue mobilization approaches.  A 1992 graduate of the University of California, San Francisco with a Masters in Physical Therapy, Steve trained under some of the most talented therapists and doctors in the country in the acclaimed Kaiser Permanente medical system and the general San Francisco Bay Area.

He moved to Austin in 2000 and soon joined the community of competitive cyclists and weekend warriors.  At Steve Cuddy Physical Therapy, Steve creates a unique relaxed and comfortable environment for his patients.  “I consider myself a specialist of orthopedic issues,” he says.  “And I feel that my approach can help any condition from head to toe.”
